Jon Niese had a strong outing and second baseman Daniel Murphy had 2 base hits
as the blistering-hot New York (NL) Mets outscored the Cincinnati Reds 5 to
3.
 
New York (NL) came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 8th
inning scoring 2 runs using 3 hits.  Murphy led off and keyed the rally when
he banged out a single.  One out later, David Wright dug into the batters box
next, but he struck out.  Ronny Cedeno then singled.  Scott Hairston stepped
in and he doubled.  New York (NL) ended up with 10 hits for the game while
Cincinnati had 4.  
 
The victory went to Niese(1-1) who went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs. Niese was
helped out by Jon Rauch who recorded his 1st save.  Johnny Cueto(2-1) took
the loss.
