Jose Fernandez didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning as the Miami Marlins
defeated the Atlanta Braves 3 to 1 at Marlins Park.

Fernandez(1-0) was solid in the win. He was stingy on the mound, allowing
just 2 hits and 5 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings. Fernandez whiffed an
impressive total of 11 Atlanta batters. The right-handed Fernandez had his
no-hit bid broken up by Andrelton Simmons who singled with one out in the 6th
inning. Miami ended up with 6 hits for the game while Atlanta had 2.

Fernandez was helped out by Steve Cishek who recorded his 1st save. Mike
Minor(1-2) was hit with the loss. Andy Virostek was asked about the
performance of Fernandez, 'He had his good stuff out there this afternoon.
The fans really get into it when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that
seems to give him even more adrenalin.'
