Jordan Zimmermann struck out 10 batters as the red-hot Washington Nationals
topped the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 5 to 1 at Nationals
Park.

Zimmermann(3-1) earned his pay with a solid performance for Washington. He
went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 8 hits and 1 walk seeing his ERA drop from
3.79 to 3.20. Both teams totaled 8 hits on the afternoon.

Tyler Clippard recorded his 1st save. The losing pitcher was Cole
Hamels(0-2). Chris Couch was upset after the game. 'I don't like to
complain but did you see that umpires strike zone?', he said. 'Maybe they
ought to start calling the strike zone the way it's printed in the rule
book.'
