Desmond propelled Washington to victory. He doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond in the 1st inning, doubled in the 5th inning and smacked a three-run homer in the 8th inning. Washington had 19 hits for the afternoon while Colorado had 10. The victory went to Dan Haren(1-0) who went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs. Ross Ohlendorf recorded the save, his 1st. Juan Nicasio(0-2) suffered the loss. He was touched for 11 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings. 'The ball was jumping off my bat' Desmond said. 'I didn't do anything differently, it's the same way I always approach the game.'
