Left fielder Miguel Cabrera homered and A.J. Burnett pitched 9 strong innings
as the Florida Marlins defeated the New York (NL) Mets by the score of 5 to 1
at Dolphins Stadium.

Florida scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. That early run support
was enough for Burnett(2-3) and Florida. Florida banged out 12 on the
afternoon.

Tom Glavine(2-3) was charged with the loss. He allowed 10 hits and 2 walks in
5 innings. 'All of my pitches were working today,' Burnett said. 'I felt
really good out there, and heck, I think I could have gone longer.'
