At McAfee Coliseum, the Oakland fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. Kirk
Saarloos(1-0) finally bested his Tampa Bay opposite, Casey Fossum(0-1), by
the score of 3 to 0.

The game started off with Oakland taking the lead in the first with 2 runs
using 2 hits. After two were out Bobby Crosby keyed the rally when he drew a
walk. Eric Chavez next to the plate and he slapped a one-base hit. Bobby
Kielty then doubled scoring two teammates. That was all the offense they
were to need. Oakland totaled 7 hits on the night.

Huston Street got the save, his 2nd. Fossum was tagged with the loss. He
allowed 3 runs and 6 hits in 4 and 1/3 innings.
