In an great finish the Chicago (NL) Cubs won in dramatic fashion over the San
Francisco Giants by a score of 8 to 7 at Wrigley Field.
Chicago (NL) came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 9th
inning with 2 runs using 2 hits. Anthony Rizzo led off the inning for
Chicago (NL) when he lashed a single. Alfonso Soriano was next and he
cracked a two-run shot resulting in a mighty exciting win for Chicago (NL)
and the 23,032 home town fans in attendance. Chicago (NL) totaled 11 hits on
the afternoon.
Shawn Camp(1-2) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. Sergio
Romo(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief. Dale Svuem was all smiles
after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty dim there for a while, but
our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans - they kept cheering us on.
What a sweet win!'
