In a tight game it was the Detroit Tigers 5, the Minnesota Twins 3 at Target
Field.
 
Detroit came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning scoring 2 runs on 2
base hits.  Miguel Cabrera opened up the inning nicely when he laced a
base-knock.  After an out was recorded, Delmon Young stepped in and he drew a
walk.  Alex Avila was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out.  Jhonny
Peralta was up next and he doubled.  Quintin Berry came up to bat and was
walked intentionally.  Detroit finished with just 6 hits in the victory.
 
Max Scherzer(3-1) allowed 3 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Jose Valverde earned his 5th save.  Alex Burnett(0-1) took the loss
in relief.  He surrendered 1 hit and 1 walk in 3 innings.
