Ian Desmond had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the Washington Nationals defeated the
St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 6 to 5 at Nationals Park.
 
Jordan Zimmermann(1-1) had a solid outing for Washington.  He went 8 innings
allowing 10 hits and 3 walks.  St. Louis threatened in the 9th but their
rally came up short.  
 
Drew Storen preserved the game for Zimmermann, recording his his 1st save.
Adam Wainwright(1-1) absorbed the loss.  He was unable to control the
Washington offense and allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.  
 
'I struggled a bit out there today,' Zimmermann said, 'but I toughed it out
and we got the win.'
