Johan Santana reeled off a total of 12 strikeouts as the Minnesota Twins
defeated the Kansas City Royals 6 to 2 at Kauffman Stadium.

Santana(2-1) gave Minnesota a solid outing. He didn't allow much, just 6 hits
and no walks in 7 and 2/3 innings lowering his ERA from 3.45 to 3.09. Kansas
City was out-hit by Minnesota, 14 hits to 6.

J.P. Howell(0-1) ended up with the loss. He was unable to control the
Minnesota offense and allowed 12 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.

'Everything felt great' Santana said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could
throw it by everybody today.'
