Edinson Volquez mowed down 10 Pittsburgh batters as the Cincinnati Reds
outscored the Pittsburgh Pirates in 11 innings 4 to 3.

The score was tied at 2 after nine. Cincinnati won the hard fought contest in
the 11th inning. Brandon Phillips got things going when he lashed a single.
Jerry Hairston Jr stepped into the batter's box and he smacked a single.
Hairston Jr was safe on a stolen base. Jay Bruce came up and he doubled.
Drew Stubbs was the next batter, but he struck out. Cincinnati had 9 hits
overall, while Pittsburgh had 5.

Jared Burton(1-0) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory.
Burton got relief help from Francisco Cordero who gained credit for his 8th
save. Matt Capps(1-2) took the loss in relief. He allowed 2 hits and no
walks without retiring a batter.

Cincinnati now has a record of 9-14. With the loss Pittsburgh now has a record
of 11-12.
