In a good matchup it was the San Francisco Giants 9, the New York (NL) Mets 6
at AT&T Park.

San Francisco had 5 runs cross the plate in the 3rd inning with the help of 4
hits. The big moment was provided by Brandon Belt who excited the crowd when
he tripled clearing all three ducks off the pond. New York (NL) tried
unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Madison Bumgarner(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 6 and 1/3
innings. Santiago Casilla recorded his 1st save. R.A. Dickey(0-1) took the
loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 6 runs in 5 innings.

'Some losses are harder to take than others' Terry Collins lamented after the
game. 'This was one of them.'
