Chase Headley launched 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the San Diego Padres beat
the Washington Nationals in 17 innings by a score of 7 to 5.
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. San Diego ended up
winning it in the 17th inning. Logan Forsythe led off and started the attack
as he drew a walk. Headley stepped into the batter's box and he bombed a
two-run dinger. Ross Ohlendorf then drew a walk. Jesus Guzman stepped in
and he grounded into a double play. Cameron Maybin was the next batter, but
he struck out. The Washington bats were silent in the bottom of the 17th.
The win went to Ohlendorf(1-0) who allowed no runs in 3 innings. Tom
Gorzelanny(0-1) took the loss in relief. Michael Morse rocketed 3 homeruns
and had 5 RBI but it wasn't enough for Washington.
