Right fielder Nick Markakis had 4 hits and 2 RBI at Camden Yards where the
Baltimore Orioles beat the Kansas City Royals in 18 innings 8 to 7.
 
The game was deadlocked at 7 after nine full innings.  Baltimore came out on
top in the 18th inning.  After two outs Robert Andino drew a walk.  Markakis
came next and he laced a base-knock.  J.J. Hardy then slapped a base-hit
giving Baltimore the win as 16,881 happy fans joyfully celebrated.  Baltimore
had a total of 17 hits for the game.  
 
The winning pitcher was Luis Ayala(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2 innings.
Jonathan Broxton(1-1) was hit with the loss in relief.  He pitched 3 and 2/3
innings and surrendered no hits and 1 walk.
