One run was the difference at Citizen's Bank Park as the Philadelphia Phillies
defeated the New York (NL) Mets 3 to 2.

Philadelphia scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Jimmy
Rollins laced a base-knock. John Thomas then called for a steal which was
successful. Shane Victorino then hit a deep fly. Chase Utley was up next
and he was hit by a pitch. Pat Burrell was the next batter, but he struck
out. Billy Wagner then let a pitch get away from him. Jayson Werth was next
and he was walked intentionally. Ryan Howard got his chance to keep things
going, but he went down on strikes. Both teams totaled 6 hits on the
afternoon.

Ryan Madson(1-1) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Madson was helped out by J.C. Romero who recorded his 1st save. Pedro
Feliciano(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning
allowing 1 hit and no walks.
