Joe Blanton went the distance as the red-hot Philadelphia Phillies beat the
Washington Nationals by a score of 8 to 1.

Washington never recovered after Philadelphia took the lead in the 2nd inning
when they tallied 2 runs on 2 hits. That early scoring was all that
Blanton(1-0) needed. Philadelphia finished with 8 hits in the victory.

The loss was charged to Odalis Perez(1-2). He got hit hard, allowing 7 hits
and 3 walks in 3 innings. Philadelphia continued on their recent roll, their
winning streak now reaching 8 games and counting. 'Everything seems to be
going right for us' said John Thomas. 'I've got the easiest job in the
league right now!'
