The Pittsburgh Pirates came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil the
anticipated celebration of the hometown fans. The final score,, was 6 to
4.

Pittsburgh came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning when they
scored 4 runs on 3 hits. The big moment was provided by Jason Michaels who
quieted the crowd when he doubled emptying the bases. Although they lost,
San Francisco did out-hit Pittsburgh 12 to 7.

Phil Dumatrait(2-0) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the win.
Dumatrait got help from Damaso Marte who earned his 1st save. Brian
Wilson(0-2) was the loser in relief.

John DePanicis was all smiles after the game, 'To pull a game out in your last
at bats, is a beautiful feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out there?
You could have heard a pin drop when we took the lead. But, hey, that's what
makes baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says, 'it's not over
'til its over.'
