First baseman Albert Pujols knocked 3 homeruns at Busch Stadium where the St.
Louis Cardinals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6 to 5.

Pujols was a one-man wrecking crew. He ripped a solo home run in the 1st
inning, cracked a solo homerun in the 4th inning and clubbed a solo home run
in the 7th inning. Philadelphia made it exciting in the 9th, but they were
unable to push the needed runs across.

The win went to Kyle McClellan(1-1) who allowed no runs in 4 innings. Jose
Contreras(0-1) was given the loss in relief. He pitched 2 innings giving up
1 hit and 1 walk.

'I was in my hotel room the other night, working on my swing and made some
adjustments,' Pujols said. 'I'm always working on it. If they are getting you
out certain ways, you've got to make changes.'
