In a game for the baseball purist, Adam Wainwright(1-2) and Roy Halladay(1-1)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, St. Louis Cardinals finally emerged
victorious over Philadelphia Phillies, 2 to 0.

Philadelphia fell behind quickly as the St. Louis offense came through in the
first inning scoring a single run using 3 hits. Albert Pujols delivered a
base-hit. Colby Rasmus was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. David
Freese then lashed a single. Matt Holliday came up and he slapped a one-base
hit. Jon Jay was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. That was all
the runs Wainwright needed. St. Louis had 7 hits for the night.

Wainwright got help from Jason Motte who earned his 1st save.
