In a game for the baseball purist, Tim Wakefield(1-0) and Brett Anderson(0-1)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, Boston Redsox finally emerged
victorious over floundering Oakland A's, 3 to 1.

Boston had 2 runs cross the plate in the 2nd inning when they came up with 3
base hits. Mike Cameron got things going when he ripped a single. Adrian
Beltre followed next and he slapped a base-hit. David Ortiz then stroked a
one-base hit. Darnell McDonald stepped in and he grounded into a double
play. That was all the runs Wakefield needed. Neither team managed to score
after the 4th inning.

Daniel Bard gained credit for his 1st save.
