In a startling finish the New York (AL) Yankees staged a comeback then held on
to win over the Boston Redsox by a score of 5 to 4 at Fenway Park.

New York (AL) had the winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs utilizing
2 base hits. Robinson Cano led off and got things going when he drew a walk.
Curtis Granderson was next and he was hit by a pitch. Andruw Jones then
smacked a three-run homer. Two outs later Derek Jeter came up and he stroked
a one-base hit. Nick Swisher got his turn next, but he was a strikeout
victim. Rafael Soriano relieved and was untouched by Boston as he recorded
the save, his 4th.

C.C. Sabathia(2-2) got the win allowing 4 runs in 8 innings. Alfredo
Aceves(2-1) took the loss in relief. Joe Girardi was very happy after the
game, 'It's great to come back and win it in your last at bats! Our guys just
wouldn't give up. And did you see the fans - one minute they're laughing and
screaming down all sorts of unprintable stuff at our guys - the next minute -
SILENCE! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win this afternoon!'
