Brandon Inge had 2 base hits at Progressive Field where the Detroit Tigers
beat the Cleveland Indians 5 to 3.

Detroit started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the
first with 3 runs utilizing 6 base hits. Placido Polanco led off and got
things going when he doubled. Magglio Ordonez stepped up next and he stroked
a single. Miguel Cabrera then grounded into a double play. Ryan Raburn was
up next and he slapped a single, and an error was also committed. Carlos
Guillen stepped into the box and doubled. Inge kept the inning going and
lined a one-base hit. Curtis Granderson stepped into the batter's box and he
ripped a base-hit. Cleveland made it exciting in the 9th, but they were
unable to push the needed runs across.

The victory was credited to Edwin Jackson(1-1) who went 8 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 3 runs. Fernando Rodney recorded his 1st save. The losing pitcher
was Aaron Laffey(0-1).

'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said Andy Virostek 'but it's losing the close
ones that really hurt.'
