At Yankee Stadium the Seattle Mariners were battered 8 to 1 by the New York
(AL) Yankees.

Jorge Posada had a good day at the plate. He clubbed a two-run home run in
the 4th inning and tripled which plated a run in the 5th inning. New York
(AL) had 10 hits for the game and Seattle had 5.

Andy Pettitte(4-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 1 run. Luke French(1-2) was the losing pitcher. New York (AL)
scored big getting 5 runs off him in 4 and 1/3 innings.
