Matt Downs cracked a homer and had 5 RBI as the Houston Astros defeated the
Boston Redsox by a score of 9 to 6 at Minute Maid Park.
 
The Houston fans enjoyed the offense provided by Downs.  He laced a one-base
hit plating a run in the 4th inning, clubbed a three-run home run in the 5th
inning and doubled scoring a run in the 7th inning.  Mark Melancon pitched a
perfect ninth to earn his 4th save.  
 
The victory was credited to J.A. Happ(2-0) who went 7 innings, allowing 5
runs. Daniel Bard(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.  He surrendered 3
runs and 4 hits in 1 and 1/3 innings.
