Johnny Cueto was on top of his game, blanking Pittsburgh on just 2 hits and
second baseman Brandon Phillips rocketed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the
Cincinnati Reds defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4 to 0 at PNC Park.

Phillips enjoyed a big day at the plate. He cracked a two-run shot in the 4th
inning, delivered a solo blast in the 6th inning and doubled in the 9th
inning. Cincinnati had a total of 7 hits for the game.

Cueto(1-0) was credited with the shutout. Paul Maholm(0-1) was hit with the
loss. He allowed just 5 hits and no walks in 8 innings.

'When Cueto is on like that it is a tough game to play, no doubt about it,'
John Thomas said. 'He always pitches well against us.'
