Ryan Dempster pitched a complete game as the Chicago (NL) Cubs bested the New
York (NL) Mets 5 to 3 at Wrigley Field.

Chicago (NL) had 4 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 5th inning when
they had 5 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Alfonso
Soriano who brought a roar from the partisan Wrigley Field fans when he
doubled plating two runs. Chicago (NL) managed 12 hits in their victory.

The victory was credited to Dempster(3-2) who went the distance, allowing 3
runs. The loss was charged to Jonathon Niese(1-1). He allowed Chicago (NL) 5
runs in 4 and 2/3 innings of work.
