At Chase Field, the Arizona fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. Joe
Saunders(3-1) finally bested his Atlanta opposite, Brandon Beachy(2-4), by
the score of 2 to 0.

Arizona jumped on top to stay in the bottom of the 2nd inning plating an
isolated run. After an out was recorded, Justin Upton smashed a bases-empty
'big-fly'. After another out, Saunders got his chance to keep things going,
but he went down on strikes. The early run support proved sufficient for
Saunders and Arizona. That was all the run support Saunders required. J.J.
Putz was perfect in the ninth giving him his 5th save on the season.

The loss was charged to Beachy. 'I always am most impressed when a pitcher
finds a way to win even without his best stuff,' Craig Lombardi said after
the game. 'Saunders did not have command of his pitches most of the
afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to pitch!'
