Jon Jay blasted 2 homeruns and scored 3 times as the St. Louis Cardinals
bested the Washington Nationals 10 to 4 at Nationals Park.

Jay provided the offensive punch. He smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the
4th inning, lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 7th inning and slapped a
single in the 9th inning. Overall St. Louis out-hit Washington 15 to 10.

Chris Carpenter(2-3) went 7 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory. Carpenter
got help from Fernando Salas who was credited with his 2nd save. The loss
was charged to Jordan Zimmermann(0-3). St. Louis knocked him around a bit,
as he gave up 6 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.
