In a great finish the Chicago (NL) Cubs came back in the top of the ninth and
held on to win over the San Francisco Giants by a score of 4 to 3 at AT&T
Park.

Chicago (NL) scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 9th inning with 3
runs utilizing 3 base hits. After two were out Starlin Castro started the
attack as he ripped a single. Aramis Ramirez was next and he lined a single.
Bryan Lahair then drew a walk to load the bases. Carlos Pena stepped in and
he drew a walk. Reed Johnson stepped into the box and doubled. Chicago (NL)
had only 5 hits for the game.

Jeff Samardzija(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings
and allowing no runs. Brian Wilson(0-1) was the loser in relief.

John Thomas was very happy after the game, 'It's great to come back and win it
in your last at bats! Our guys just wouldn't give up. And did you see the
fans - one minute they're laughing and screaming down all sorts of
unprintable stuff at our guys - the next minute - SILENCE! Yes sir, a very
enjoyable win this afternoon!'
