Left fielder Andy Dirks had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Detroit Tigers defeated
the Cleveland Indians in 12 innings by the score of 11 to 10 at Comerica
Park.
 
Both teams were tied at 9 runs apiece after nine innings.  Finally, Detroit
pulled the game out in the 12th inning.  Alex Avila doubled.  Jhonny Peralta
came to the plate and drew a walk.  Quintin Berry then reached on an error
resulting in an exciting win for Detroit and a raucous post-game celebration
by the home town fans.  The game was a wild affair with the lead changing
hands 5 times.  
 
Drew Smyly(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 2 and 1/3 innings.
Zach McAllister(1-1) suffered the loss in relief.  Shin-Soo Choo smacked 2
homeruns and had 4 RBI in a losing cause for Cleveland.
