Designated hitter David Ortiz hit a homerun and had 2 RBI at Comerica Park as
the Boston Redsox beat the Detroit Tigers 8 to 6.
 
Boston erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 8th inning when
they came up with 4 runs on 4 hits.  Despite losing, Detroit out-hit Boston
12 to 9.  
 
Scott Atchison(3-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Atchison got relief help from Junichi Tazawa who gained
credit for his 3rd save.  The losing pitcher was Brayan Villarreal(0-3) in
relief.  
 
Prince Fielder knocked 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI but despite his efforts, it
wasn't enough to put Detroit over the top.
