Doug Fister didn't allow a hit until the 8th inning at Fenway Park as the
Detroit Tigers beat the Boston Redsox by the count of 3 to 1.
 
Fister(3-1) was tremendous on the mound for Detroit.  He surrendered only 2
hits and 1 walk in 8 innings improving his ERA from 4.56 to 3.74.  The
right-handed Fister had his no-hit bid broken up by Will Middlebrooks who
singled with nobody out in the 8th inning.  Detroit had 7 hits for the
afternoon while Boston had 2.  
 
Phil Coke earned the save, his 1st.  Clay Buchholz(1-2) was the losing
pitcher.  He pitched 8 innings and surrendered 7 hits and 3 walks.
