Andy Dirks hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI at Comerica Park where the Detroit
Tigers beat the Seattle Mariners in 10 innings 7 to 6.
 
The score was tied at 6 after nine.  Detroit won it in the 10th inning.  Alex
Avila blasted a solo shot giving Detroit the win much to the delight of the
home town crowd.  Detroit had 15 hits overall, while Seattle had 8.
 
Joaquin Benoit(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Erasmo
Ramirez(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.  He gave up 3 hits and no
walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
