Perez was really in 'the zone'. He popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 1st inning, doubled in the 3rd inning, doubled in the 4th inning and clubbed a solo home run in the 7th inning. Detroit threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. Kelvin Herrera(1-2) was the winner allowing 1 run in 2 innings. Greg Holland recorded the save, his 2nd. Phil Coke(0-1) was the loser in relief. 'I've spent a lot of time in the cage and made some adjustments and they've paid off,' Perez said. 'I just take the same approach up there. I don't overanalyze it. I go up there, see the ball and try to put a good swing on it.'
