Jody Gerut launched 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the San Diego Padres defeated
the Washington Nationals by a score of 5 to 1 at Nationals Park.

Gerut had a big day against Washington. He smacked a three-run homer in the
6th inning and cracked a solo homerun (his 3rd of the season) in the 9th
inning. The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.

Chris Young(1-3) went 6 innings allowing no runs for the win. Young got relief
help from Mike Adams who gained credit for his 5th save. The loss was
charged to John Lannan(1-2).
