At McAfee Coliseum, the Oakland faithful were treated to an intriguing
pitcher's duel. Kevin Slowey(2-0) finally bested his Oakland counterpart,
Greg Smith(0-2), by the score of 2 to 1.

Minnesota had the game winning rally in the 8th inning scoring 2 runs. After
an out was recorded, Nick Punto started the rally when he drew a walk. After
another out, Alexi Casilla came to the plate and popped a two-run clout over
the fence (his 1st of the season). The game was a scoreless duel until the
8th inning.

Slowey got relief help from Joe Nathan who gained credit for his 4th save.
Smith was the losing pitcher. He pitched 8 innings giving up 5 hits and 2
walks.
