Right fielder Magglio Ordonez had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Detroit Tigers
defeated the Baltimore Orioles in 10 innings 3 to 2 at Comerica Park.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Detroit came out the victor in
the 10th inning. Marcus Thames reached on an error. Curtis Granderson came
to the plate and drew a walk. Placido Polanco was a strikeout victim, unable
to help out. Carlos Guillen got his chance to keep things going, but he went
down on strikes. Ordonez came to the plate and ripped a base-knock giving
Detroit the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. Both teams
finished the game with 8 hits.

Freddy Dolsi(1-1) got the win allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Brian
Bass(0-3) was the loser in relief. It was a tough loss for him as he did not
allow an earned run in his 4 innings of work.

Dave Murray was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak of games
-- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe we can relax a
little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'
