Gerald Laird had 4 hits at Yankee Stadium as the Texas Rangers embarrassed the
New York (AL) Yankees by the lopsided score of 15 to 2.

Laird was unconscious all day. The New York (AL) fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He banged
out a single in the 4th inning, delivered a base-hit in the 5th inning,
doubled which was good for two runs in the 7th inning and quieted the crowd
by clouting a Grand Slam (his 4th of the season) in the 8th inning. Texas
kept the scorekeepers busy in the 8th inning with 7 runs on 3 hits. Texas
had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.

The victory was credited to Matt Harrison(3-1) who went 7 innings, allowing 2
runs. Darrell Rasner(1-1) was tagged with the loss. He was knocked around
pretty good, giving up 6 runs in 5 innings.
