In an embarrassing outing for the Chicago (NL) Cubs pitching staff, St. Louis
Cardinals flexed their collective muscle amassing 11 runs as Jeff
Suppan(1-0)with support from the bullpen surrendered 3 runs to Chicago
(NL).

Chicago (NL) was unable to recover after St. Louis went ahead in the top of
the 3rd inning scoring 3 runners on 3 hits. The key offensive moment was
provided by Albert Pujols who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd
when he clubbed a two-run home run. St. Louis had 16 hits overall, while
