Mike Fiers struck out 16 batters at PETCO Park as the Milwaukee Brewers beat
the floundering San Diego Padres by the count of 7 to 3.

Fiers(1-2) dominated San Diego hitters. He allowed just 5 hits and 4 walks in
9 innings improving his ERA from 6.20 to 4.60. Milwaukee had only 6 hits for
the game.

Clayton Richard(1-2) absorbed the loss. 'He was really impressive today,'
Richard said of his counterpart. 'Our guys were just swinging at air.'
