Joe Saunders(1-0) and Doug Fister(0-1) locked horns in a pitcher's duel with
Saunders and the Seattle Mariners coming out on top of the Detroit Tigers 2
to 1.

Seattle scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning. That early scoring held up. Detroit
made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs
across.

Tom Wilhelmsen gained credit for his 1st save. 'Some losses are harder to
take than others' Chris Couch lamented after the game. 'This was one of
them.'
