Yu Darvish retired 13 batters on strikeouts and designated hitter Lance
Berkman knocked 2 homeruns at Rangers Ballpark as the Texas Rangers beat the
Seattle Mariners by the count of 6 to 0.
 
Berkman had a good day at the plate.  He cracked a solo homerun in the 5th
inning, clubbed a solo home run in the 7th inning and banged out a single in
the 8th inning.  Texas finished with 10 hits in the victory.  
 
Darvish(1-0) went the distance for the shutout. James Paxton(0-1) took the
loss.  He allowed 3 homeruns in 6 and 1/3 innings of work.  
 
Darvish was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out
there.  The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates.  We got the
victory and I'll sure take 13 strikeouts anytime!'
