50,574 fans were treated to a fine game at Turner Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Atlanta Braves won by the
slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.

Atlanta scored the deciding run in the 8th inning. Rafael Furcal slapped a
one-base hit. Marcus Giles came to the plate and drew a walk. Chipper Jones
then drew a walk to load the bases. Andruw Jones stepped in and he grounded
into a double play. Adam Laroche stepped into the box and hit a single
scoring the run. Atlanta banged out 7 on the afternoon.

The winning pitcher was John Smoltz(3-1) who allowed 3 runs in 8 innings.
Smoltz was helped out by Kyle Farnsworth who recorded his 1st save. The loss
was charged to Ugueth Urbina(0-1) in relief. He gave up 1 run and 1 hit in
2/3 of an inning.
