The San Francisco Giants came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil
the anticipated celebration of the hometown fans. The final score,, was 5 to
4.

San Francisco had the game winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs on 5
hits. Moises Alou opened up the inning nicely when he lined a one-base hit.
Ray Durham came next and he doubled. Jason Ellison was a strikeout victim,
unable to help out. Pedro Feliz came up and he hit a sacrifice fly plating a
run. Marquis Grissom came to the plate and popped a two-run clout over the
fence (his 1st of the season). Overall San Francisco out-hit St. Louis 13 to
8.

Latroy Hawkins(1-0) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the win. Hawkins was
helped out by Armando Benitez who recorded his 5th save. Jason
Isringhausen(0-2) was the loser in relief.

Tony LaRussa was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in
the mood for questions, but I'm sure Lee Michaels will be glad to talk about
the game as long as you have questions to ask.'
