One run was the difference at Great American Bpk as the Cincinnati Reds
defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 4 to 3.

Cincinnati had the winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning with 2 runs.
After an out was recorded, Ryan Freel started the attack as he drew a walk.
Felipe Lopez stepped into the batter's box and he popped a two-run clout over
the fence (his 3rd of the season). Cincinnati had only 5 hits for the game.

Kent Mercker(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. David
Weathers was credited with his 7th save. Jeff Suppan(2-2) ended up with the
loss. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 5 hits and 3 walks.

The Cincinnati ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 9-3. With
this loss, St. Louis has a 3-7 record of late, 15-12 overall.
