In a game for the baseball purist, Roy Halladay(7-0) and Chris Carpenter(3-4)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, Philadelphia Phillies finally emerged
victorious over St. Louis Cardinals, 2 to 1.

Philadelphia promptly took the lead in their half of the first when they
scored 2 runs on 3 hits. That early run support was all that Halladay
required. Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 2nd inning with no runs
scored after that point.

Brad Lidge earned his 6th save.
