Adam Wainwright whitewashed Philadelphia on 3 hits at Citizen's Bank Park as
the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 2 to
0.

Wainwright(6-3) came through with a virtuoso performance against the
Philadelphia hitters. He didn't allow much, just 3 hits and 1 walk in 9
innings lowering his ERA to 2.23. St. Louis had only 6 hits for the
afternoon.

Roy Oswalt(6-1) took the loss. He allowed 5 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings.
When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Oswalt was lavish in
his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a
long night. Wainwright brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and
was able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches
the entire game!
