In a good matchup it was the Oakland A's 7, the Houston Astros 5 at Minute
Maid Park.

Oakland scored 4 runs in the decisive 5th inning when they came up with 5 base
hits. The big moment was provided by Josh Donaldson who silenced the crowd
when he doubled scoring two baserunners. Houston was retired without
difficulty in the bottom of the 9th.

The win was credited to Bartolo Colon(1-0) who went 5 innings allowing 4 runs.
Grant Balfour gained credit for his 1st save. Jose Cisnero(0-1) suffered the
loss in relief. He allowed 6 hits and 1 walk in 1 inning.

'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Lee Michaels said after the game. 'Colon did not have command
of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to
pitch!'
