Third baseman Gordon Beckham lofted one into the 'cheap seats' as the Chicago
(AL) Whitesox outscored the Kansas City Royals 6 to 4.

Kansas City was unable to recover after Chicago (AL) went ahead in the bottom
of the 5th inning as they scored 2 runs on 3 base hits. Kansas City made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

The win was credited to Mark Buehrle(1-0) who went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing
2 runs. Buehrle got relief help from Bobby Jenks who gained credit for his
1st save. Brian Bannister(0-1) was given the loss. He served up 3 gopher
balls in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Lee Michaels was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'
