16,045 fans were treated to a fine game at PNC Park as only one run separated
the combatants at game's end. The Pittsburgh Pirates were finally were able
to get back on the winner's track and won by the slimmest of margins, 3 to
2.

Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Pittsburgh came out
the victor in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Neil Walker
doubled. Ryan Madson then uncorked a pitch that was ruled a passed ball.
Andrew McCutchen then was walked intentionally. Ryan Doumit followed and he
smacked a single resulting in an exciting win for Pittsburgh and a wild
post-game celebration by the home town fans. Pittsburgh had 9 hits for the
afternoon.

Daniel McCutchen(1-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Vance
Worley(2-1) was the loser in relief. He was the victim of a defensive lapse
and did not allow an earned run in the game.

'It's been a rough ride lately, but this was a good win for us' said John
Thomas, 'Maybe this will put us back on track.'
